“Philema Food Tours” and “Tranampelo Vineyard” invite you to take part in an effort to showcase the long wine-making history of Naxos as well as the agro-touristic potential of the island.
All participants will have the chance to observe or to actively take part in the harvesting process.
A unique celebration, a hands-on opportunity to learn everything there is to know about indigenous Cycladic varieties and traditional methods of production and to taste lots and lots of wine and local delicacies.

EVENT SCHEDULE
THURSDAY 16/8 “Pre-Harvesting”
16:00 – 20:00
• Vineyard tour*
– identification of indigenous varieties
– comparison of traditional and modern viticulture methods
– comments on pruning techniques
– terroir (soil and climate conditions that shape a wine’s character)
• Vineyard preparation (cleaning of ‘Linou’ & ‘Strofilia’ – traditional pressing machines, harvesting boxes and tools)
• Harvest preparation**
– manual destemming of grapes
– traditional pressing for grape juice extraction (at ‘Strofilia’)
– first measurements and grape must analyses
• Barbeque with local products and recipes and tasting of selected wines :
– Domaine Moraitis, ‘PAROS’, P.D.O. Paros, 2017, Monemvasia 100%
– Artemis Karamolegos Winery, ‘SANTORINI’, P.D.O . Santorini, 2017, Assyrtiko – Athiri & Aidani
FRIDAY 17/8 “Tranampelo” Harvest
8:00 – 11:00 (with brunch) and 11:00 – 14:00 (with lunch)
• Vineyard tour*
• Vineyard preparation**
• Harvest of “Tranampelo” wine varieties (Potamissi, Monemvasia, Mandilaria)
• Quality control of grapes, transportation to a protected environment with controlled temperature and conditions
• Brunch or vegetarian lunch (with local products and recipes)
• Tasting of three vintages of “Tranampelo”
SATURDAY 18/08 Experimental harvest: “Potamissi Single”
9:00 – 15:00
• Welcoming coffee, traditional sweets and tsipouro (wine distillation)
• Presentation of the “Potamissi Single” project
• Vineyard tour*
• Vineyard preparation**
• Strict selection of grapes (selective harvest)
• Quality control of grapes, transportation to a protected environment with controlled temperature and conditions
• Barbeque with meat from Naxos and traditional recipes
• Tasting of various Potamissi wines from different producers from the Cyclades
