Aerial photos from the book “Cyclades, as the seagull flies”
In her illustrative book “Cyclades, as the seagull flies”, Penelope Matsouka cherishes the majestic scenery of Cycladic beauty with colourful, breathtaking panoramic photos.
For 30 years, guided by her intense desire to map the world from above, she strives for a continuous performance of all the elements that consist the earth, the Hellenic Earth. Greece differs in scenery by its unique biodiversity and rich flora and fauna that make these pictures as if they are taken by the hand of God.
Cycladic islands, are characterized be this specific contrast of the big blue of the sea and the rocky reliefs, giving a sense of wild grandiose untouched by human.
Greece is a mesmerizing country, an entire world in micrography reflected.
Penelope Matsouka during an interview in Naxospress, gives her own explicit point of view of Naxos island from above…
Naxos island reminds me of the term “rocky melodies”, because this intense rocky relief that Naxos is full of, pertains an entire melody. For example, waves’ formation in Mikri Vigla coastline (a cape in the Northwest side of the island), mimic the numberless formations in a beautiful woman’s skirt.
During the aerial shoot of Kakovouni, an extremely wild rocky mountain, I was astonished by a small hut placed on top, among all this wilderness and difficult trespassing. This man, living there, must be in touch with the supernatural from beyond…for him to able to live there..
Next destination will be Creta island, an island that hopefully will be also the unanimous future book of aerial photos.
These aerial photos are of an almost artistic quality since they enhance the already authentic perspective of each and every island on display.
